Bring it back to small towns with a good mystery. That is what Riverdale is. It brings us the drama of Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars but also the friendships from 90210 and Friends. Riverdale first premiered on Jan. 26 with around 1.37 million viewers.

The first episode immediately draws the viewers in with a murder, the boy next door, the sweetheart, the loner, the new girl, and of course  the mean girl. Riverdale is a small town where everyone knows everyone else’s business even when it is not pretty. Based loosely in the Archie Comics Riverdale takes on a teenage murder with – you guessed it – teenagers solving it.

While the characters are basic the plot line is not. As more episodes going it brings you deeper and deeper into who killed killed Jason Blossom with fingers pointed at just about everyone.

Lili Reinhart is the epitome of a “Betty.” She is the sweet girl next door complete with the blond ponytail  that no one would suspect as being part of the murder. However writers portray her as not only a Betty but also having a little crazy in her – because no one’s that perfect.

However the most complex character is Jughead, Cole Sprouse. Jughead is the loner yet also the ladies man? Sprouse’s character is built upon a tragic past yet being saved by a great friends and a new girlfriend. Jughead is the narrator of Riverdale and Riverdale’s resident writer. Sprouse does a great job and playing a multi level character that is sure to keep viewers guessing.

If you miss the old CW with Gossip Girl and 90210 be sure to tune on Thursday’s at nine for the next big CW hit.
