Women’s tennis ended their fall season 3-3 in league and went into the second round of CIF. The team had not been to CIF in at least four years.

The team beat Indio High School Oct. 29 with a final score of 15-3. “In the beginning, we were nervous, [but] once we realized they were beatable, the nerves went away,” said team captain Faith Moreno. She explained that their season had great success because of their new coach, Mark Nausland.

The Aztecs went against Bolsa Grande High School Oct. 31.“In singles we tried our hardest,” said junior Madison Renaud about losing 8-10.

Senior Jade Moreno and junior Tori Lavoie placed fourth in doubles out of 24 doubles teams in their league.

“Our season was better because we did not go to CIF last year. The change in coaching made the biggest difference in the world,” said Jade Moreno. She also said, “I feel we did amazing losing only three sets.”

With the success women’s tennis has this season, it will inspire the team to go even further next year.
