The NFL kneeling conversary is one that should have never happened and the players should stand during the national anthem. The reason for players to take a knee during the national anthem is to protest the mistreatment of African Americans in our society. Players are showing they will not stand for a country that allows this kind of treatment towards the African American community. It is very wrong for these players to take a knee for a National Anthem that represents our country and for all the lives that have been lost to keep it that way.

The main reason why these players should not be doing this is that they are role models for young athletes aspiring to be just like them. They are teaching kids to not stand for the national anthem which many men and women’s lives have been lost for the freedoms we have today.

Another reason why these players should not be allowed to do this is that it makes their programs look bad. These players are being paid millions to play a sport, they should be able to show some pride for our country and not act like spoiled brats.

The effect of these players taking knees have had its effects on high school and college teams. Many high schoolers that want to stand out or do something different will take a knee for the national anthem not even knowing what they are doing. Many college players have been seen taking a knee for the same reason.

Before players were not punished for taking a knee but, now In the upcoming NFL football season a player may not be allowed to take a knee for the national anthem, but if they wish to they can stay in the locker room and not be seen for the national anthem. Each team is responsible for setting their own punishments. The league can now fine a team after a player is found taking a knee.
