Why America Is Great!

America, a country that is made for dreams to come true. It truly is a blessing to be born in the beautiful country America. In today’s time, we the people are given freedom of speech and religion which other countries unfortunately do not have the same equal rights. Fortunately in America, Americans have the bill of rights which gives us our rights. To make us Americans feel more confident about our citizenship in America, in Korea, if your house is being burned, you must save your president’s painting or else you will be executed on the spot. The main point is that in America, you have more freedom than most countries. You may believe that America hasn’t done anything for you or your families, yet after reading this passage, you may change your perspective. I as in many other people are proud to be an american citizen and truly believe it’s always a blessed day to be born in the U.S 

 

 

Going away from America’s civil rights, there are also interesting facts about America that perhaps others may not have known about. The United States Of America ranks fourteen out of twenty four in terms of four year graduate status. Another interesting fact is that America is known for producing tons of legendary athletes in history. Athletes in different sports such as basketball, Baseball, American football, etc. Some of America’s famous athletes are Muhammad Ali, Babe Ruth, Michael Jordan and many more.According to team USA, “The hall of fame includes 119 individual Olympians and Paralympics”. Last but certainly not least, in the space race between the USSR vs the United States, the U.S was the very first country to successfully land a man on the moon. On July 21st, 1969, “Apollo 11 was the American spaceflight that first landed humans on the Moon” Wikipedia. 

 

 

 Even though the early years of the U.S didn’t look too clean. Adjustments were made and so were rights. Civil rights protected many citizens from being unlawfully discriminated against, harassed or abused. There are countries in the world where you are not protected from any abuse. To go into further detail, in the country of Mexico, the country is mainly run by cartels. Our government system does a great job by keeping U.S citizens protected. America is seen as the land of the free and land of opportunities. That is why there have been many people outside of the U.S trying to become a U.S citizen since they want to live the american dream. What is the American dream you may ask, the American dream is the belief that anyone can achieve success through hard work and determination. It also represents the idea of the pursuit of happiness. It’s about having the opportunity to build a better life for yourself and others. Yet, everyone has their own perspective of the American dream. “The Entangled History of ‘America First’ and ‘the American Dream” Sarah Churchwell  

 The U.S has been through downfalls, yet has recovered tremendously. One of the scariest moments in American history is 9.11. 9.11 was an attack on the twin towers and other locations. America was being attacked by Islamic terrorists. This was a tragic and devastating event in American history. “Americans watched in horror as the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, left nearly 3,000 people dead in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Shanksville, Pennsylvania.” – Carroll Doherty, Yet, it was unfortunate that many had to die. The aftermath of 9.11 brought people and communities together during the difficult time. Another devastating event was “pearl harbor” , an attack by Japanese aircraft. While it caused death and destruction, it truly made America enter WWII. The attack united the American people and sparked a strong sense of patriotism and determination to defend the nation. This helped shape America’s role as a global superpower. It also showed that there were true heroic men who were willing to die for their country, “Each of these men fully understood the fact that our liberty and freedoms are not guaranteed but hard-fought” –  Lee William 

 

 

America is not only known for just being a country. It is known to be a home for the citizens, protection for citizens, and best of all, a family. It may not seem that way due to many events going on in today’s time, yet, people truly have to take time to appreciate how blessed they are to have the opportunity to become something in the U.S. In other countries, you aren’t guaranteed that same opportunity. The United States has one of the toughest army out of the entire world. With no doubt, the U.S is where people want to be and grow. “The American dream is that dream of a land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement.” – James Truslow Adams
