September‘s here which means professional sports leagues such as the NFL, NBA, and NHL are back as well. And due to the lack of sports during the summer (besides MLB and MLS), this can be one of the most exciting times of the year. So without further ado, here´s every fixture you should look out for this weekend:
NFL:
Sunday: Lions @ Packers 4:25pm EST
photo via Detroit Lions on Facebook
The NFC North showed up last year. They were the division with the highest average amount of wins (11.25). They were also the division with the most wins vs. the final four teams in the NFL last season (45). Effectively, if there was a DOTY award, they‘d win it. Despite this, both of these teams had pretty disappointing playoff exits last season, with both of them losing their first game (Commanders and Eagles respectively). So both will be looking for revenge. Two very strong teams which I guarantee will both be in the playoffs last season, so unsurprisingly both will be very hungry for a win in their first week. Stars such as Jordan Love, Micah Parsons, Jared Goff, and ARSB will all be on Lambeau Field at the same time on Sunday, so I don’t see why this isn’t a must-watch. You can catch this game on Paramount+.
Prediction: 28-24, Lions
Sunday: Texans @ Rams 4:25pm EST
photo via Yahoo Sports
Aztecs, your Rams play their first regular season game this Sunday and it couldn‘t get any bigger. CJ Stroud and the Texans come into this stronger than ever with what’s looking to be a B+ offseason grade and a potential franchise QB. Rams aren’t looking bad either for sure, with McVay’s star-studded lineup of Nacua, Stafford, Jared Verse, Kyren Williams, and most recently former Packers/Raiders/Jets star WR Davante Adams PLUS Oregon TE Terrance Ferguson, so if you ask me this team could be a Super Bowl contender. Still this will be one of our harder games this season, and will probably be one of the closest games this week. Game will be on CBS/Paramount+.
Prediction: 21-24, Rams
Sunday: Ravens @ Bills 8:20pm EST
photo via Peacock
Game of the week will be Sunday Night Football on Peacock when Baltimore takes on Buffalo. This is such a blockbuster game as most people consider these two to be the only sides that can rival the AFC against the Chiefs this year. 2 of the best QB‘s in the league in Allen and Jackson always put on a show whenever one of them has a game, so surely the 2 of them pitted against each other will be a must-watch. If you ask me the Bills offense hasn’t been the same since losing WR Stefon Diggs, but they will be happy to have CB Tre’davious White back on defense, after his shorts stints in LA and at the Ravens. Speaking of the Ravens the Lamar Jackson+Derrick Henry duo tore up the league last year, and they’ll definitely be wanting to repeat that this year. So everything’s adding up for this to be a game to remember.
Prediction: 33-36, Bills (OT)
College Football:
Saturday: GA Southern @ USC 7:30pm EST
photo via ESPN
As for college football the USC Trojans got a home game at the Coliseum vs. the Georgia Southern Eagles. This is the 2nd part of Georgia Southern‘s California tour after last Saturday’s 14-42 loss @ Fresno State. USC on the other hand are looking very confident in this match especially after their blowout 13-73 victory vs. brand-new FBS side Missouri State. CBS Sports ranks these 2 sides very differently, with USC at 31. and GSU at 102. So I can imagine this match will be very easy for SC, and a GA. Southern upset would definitely make some headlines. This match will exclusively be on FOX Sports.
Prediction: 7-56, USC
Saturday: 15. Michigan @ 18. Oklahoma 7:30pm EST

The only ranked match-up this entire weekend comes when the 15. Michigan Wolverines take on the 18. Oklahoma Sooners at Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Norman. Freshman QB Bryce Underwood and the Wolverines are coming off a 17-34 home victory vs. the New Mexico Lobos, so this is their first ranked AND away game this season. They will have their work cut out for them against the 18. Sooners, who made a 3-35 battering of Illinois State last week. QB John Mateer threw for 392 yards and 3 touchdowns against Illinois State, which is a new personal record. Meanwhile Underwood, who was actually a 5-star recruit from Belleville High School last year, threw for 251 yards and a touchdown last week vs. the Lobos. So this game is adding up to be a must-watch. You can tune in on ESPN tonight at 4:30.
Prediction: 33-24, Michigan
Saturday: UCLA @ UNLV 8:00pm EST

The last time these 2 schools faced each other in football was 2016 (see picture above). If you watch college football you‘ll know that the Bruins are much more of a basketball school, and that was apparent last week when they got battered 43-10 against the 25. Utah Utes last Saturday. Tonight they’ll be looking for redemption but it won’t be easy. Last week UNLV got the job done 38-21 @ Sam Houston, but that wasn’t nearly their biggest boast. Last season they went 11-3 and made it all the way to the Mountain West championship vs. Boise State, before losing that match 7-21. Despite this, these 2 teams are very close in the national rankings, with UNLV being 68. in the country, and UCLA is 72. So if I were to guess this would be a good game to watch, and a chance for redemption for the Bruins.
Prediction: 29-28, UCLA
MLB:
Athletics vs. Angels
photo via ClutchPoints
This has been a very rough season (as usual) for Angel fans. While technically we aren‘t out of the playoffs just yet, we basically are, with an over 99% chance of failure. A’s are pretty much in the exact same boat, so this series is basically just to see who can scrape for 4th in the AL West, since the records are similar. At the time of writing this Angels are 66-75 with a .468 win percentage. A’s are 65-77 with a .458 win percentage. Halos can use this series as a last-minute confidence booster to use heading on our way to the offseason. A’s already won the first game 10-4 but you can catch the last 2 on FanDuel Sports West for the Angels broadcast and NBC Sports California for the A’s one.
Prediction: 2-1 on the series, Angels
Dodgers vs. Orioles
photo via MLB.com
The Orioles head into their weekend showdown at Camden Yards riding high after sweeping the Padres, full of momentum as they face a Dodgers team trying to regain its stride following a sweep by the Pirates and a rough four-game skid. The Dodgers boast an elite offense led by powerhouse hitters like Shohei Ohtani, Will Smith, and Freddie Freeman, though their rotation has been plagued by injuries; Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, Clayton Kershaw, and Ohtani provide bright spots. The Orioles counter with righthander Dean Kremer and ace Trevor Rogers, who has been arguably the best pitcher in MLB since May with a minuscule 1.39 ERA
Prediction: 2-1 on the series, Dodgers
Padres vs. Rockies

The Padres travel to Denver after an off day to start their road series against the struggling Rockies, though they’re dealing with key injuries in their bullpen and infield. Meanwhile, Colorado is sending rookie McCade Brown to the mound, a highly inexperienced starter with two rough outings (8.22 ERA) against a Padres offense that’s had its ups and downs. San Diego enters as the betting favorite, though opinions differ on the run total: some expect the Padres to control the game, while others predict a high-scoring affair.
Prediction: 3-0 on the series, Padres
Astros vs. Rangers

This weekend’s Lone Star Series carries major playoff implications. The Astros, holding a 3.5- to 4-game lead atop the AL West, barely lost the opener and now face a crucial second game led by Hunter Brown, since reinstated into the rotation. The Rangers, though well behind, still harbor postseason hopes and are dealing with several key injuries, including Adolis García and Corey Seager, but boast a historically stingy pitching and defensive unit. The stakes are high: an Astros win would tighten their grip on the division, while a Rangers victory would amplify their wild-card push
Prediction: 2-1 on the series, Astros
MLS:
Saturday: Dynamo vs. Galaxy 8:30pm EST
photo via HoustonDynamo.com
This weekend brings the 45th all-time meeting between Houston and Los Angeles in a rivalry steeped in history—LA holds a slight edge with a combined 18–14–12 record across all competitions. The Dynamo and Galaxy played to a 1–1 draw when they met earlier this season, and LA enters on a minor upswing, fresh off a 2–1 Leagues Cup win and scoring three goals in their most recent regular-season match. Houston, meanwhile, continues to hold a narrow advantage in head-to-head wins and will look to capitalize on home-field dynamics. Betting trends are mixed: some modelers predict a Dynamo win, while others anticipate a draw or goal-heavy affair
Prediction: 2-0, Houston
