As an exciting new semester begins, we celebrate our teachers and staff who try their hardest to make our campus feel like home! From our excellent, experienced veterans who have watched the evolution of classroom traditions, to new teachers bringing fresh ideas and a new story worth sharing, all of our teachers work together to make Esperanza special.
Academic classes are given to students with great pleasure- and in this math class it is not only taught to know basic arithmetic, but to cherish a class that impacts lives. What truly qualifies a teacher in their profession, is the act of helping and observing the student’s knowledge going off to society. And that is why, we write about our math teacher, Mr. Medellin who has been working with Esperanza for 38 years. Through his years, he shares to new staff or people that want to be teachers the importance of being at a steady pace and taking teaching day by day. Mr Medellin mentions how vital it is for new or incoming teachers explaining it is crucial to “Take things one day at a time,” because this way you learn the importance of “starting off a brand new day, and recover from the rigor of the past days.”
While veterans share advice, new teachers at Esperanza share their first impressions, and favorite things about working at Esperanza! Principal Craig Collins, the interim principal, explains how it is his first semester teaching at Esperanza, and he started in the summer! His favorite part working here is the students and staff because they have been so great and supportive, but he is excited for more amazing years to come. Along with Mr. Collins, this is Assistant Principal Lay’s second year, working at Esperanza! He enjoys the students, school culture, and the staff because they are always willing to help make Esperanza the best school it can be!
Overall, Esperanza has honored our veteran teachers and has welcomed our newest teachers. With these new and old teachers we are bound to learn new things, like gaining old wisdom, and learning from mistakes that come along the way! Esperanza is starting to become more like a home to us students and teachers, thanks to the support from the staff. Whenever you’re walking to class and you see our hardworking staff, be sure to say hi, and thank them for their hard work and school spirit!
