EHS color guard and band putting on a fantastic show!

This year’s band field show, entitled “Remembrance,” is designed to reflect on the highlights of a person’s life and the special times that are gone in an instant.

The performance takes the audience on a journey of human experience. “We go right into playtime where you hear some children’s laughter and playing games, they are jumping the rope and the things like that, then we go to second movement which is kind of reflecting back on people that have always supported you in times when you’re struggling,” said the band director, Brad Davis. He explains that the last movement is supposed to feel like a rush a person receives from overcoming obstacles or conquering a challenge.

Davis states that he has been really impressed with his student leadership this year and that they are “professional and personal.” He also includes that they have done an amazing job of being helpful to the young ensemble, which is about 30% freshmen. “And I’ve been really happy with the quality of the performance as well,” said Davis.

“Obviously it’s a tremendous amount of time that the students are dedicating towards getting to the place where they are now,” Davis continues, “and I like knowing that given all that time and practice that they’ve put in, that they get recognized for it by getting into Championships this Saturday.” The music for the band field show is completely original and composed just for this performance.

Davis concludes that “the growth from day one to now has been tremendous and the amount of creativity and thinking that it takes to get a show like this together really says a lot about the students willingness to step outside their comfort zones and get better everyday.”
