Star Wars is one of the most recognizable and beloved film franchises in cinema history. When the name was bought by Disney in 2012, they promised a continuation of the numbered films with episodes seven through nine, but also other movies in the years between sequels with the overarching narrative throughout a trilogy Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is the first of the between films, coming after Episode 7 but will be followed by Episode 8, presumably next year.

An important part of this movie is when it takes place in the Star Wars universe. It is not a continuation of Episode 7 so do not expect Rey and Kylo Ren to be anywhere near the movie. It instead takes place just before Episode 4, as in directly before. It follows a team of rebels with the call sign Rogue One who are tasked with stealing the plans to the first Death Star. To add a bit more perspective to the timeline, the plans they steal are the same plans that Princess Leia placed into R2-D2 in the opening sequence of Episode 4.

Rogue one also has a fairly decent cast with names like Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso Diego Luna as Cassian Andor and Alan Tudyk as K-2SO filling up the top billing. Someone who is not on the top billing but has most fans excited is James Earl Jones who is reprising his role as the voice of the iconic Darth Vader. It is also being directed by Gareth Edwards, whose most notable picture is Godzilla (2014) which is mostly known for not being as bad as the 1998 Godzilla.
