Marvel’s Thor Ragnarok hits the mark

Cinema City is now showing Thor Ragnarok

The latest cinematic venture by Marvel Studios is Thor Ragnarok, the third installment in the Thor series and 17th movie in the Marvel cinematic universe. Although not being the best out of the 17 marvel movies, it was not bad in any sense.

Thor Ragnarok takes place 2 years after Avengers: Age of Ultron. Thor, played by Chris Hemsworth, has been going through the Nine Realms looking for infinity stones and information on how to stop the prophesied Ragnarok, the destruction of Asgard. Once he returns home, he finds that his father, Odin (Anthony Hopkins), is missing and his younger brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston) has taken the throne for himself. After some light threatening, Loki shows Thor where he put their father. Once they reach him, he dies of natural causes and Hela, the goddess of death (Cate Blanchett) is freed from a prison that Odin’s power was keeping locked. Through a series of unfortunate events, Thor and Loki both end up on the junk planet of Saccar where they begin to find ways to get back to Asgard to stop Hela.

Opposed to the other two movies with the Thor name attached, Ragnarok is actually a comedy. Almost every major actor in the movie has an opportunity to crack a joke. The movie is incredibly funny but there are some parts that probably should have been taken a bit more seriously. There is not really any part in the movie that gives you any real emotion besides humor, which for some is not a bad thing at all, but others might have liked that moment of seriousness.

Thor Ragnarok was directed by Taika Waititi, the same director who made “What we do in the Shadows,” and has a run time of 2 hours 10 minutes.
