Fall Sports Season Is a Go
As fall rolls in, so do many sports, and the teams are fully prepped and ready to compete this year. The current Women’s sports in season are Cheer, Cross Country, Golf, Tennis and Volleyball. The Men’s sports include Cross Country, Football and Water Polo.
Women:
Cheer– Cheer has been training all summer and on Oct 29 they have their first competition. Their competition season is from November through March. They also have the November Showcase and are currently preparing for it. Team members Paige Westerlin and Jessica Quinteros have been showing skill and leadership this season.
Cross Country– Women’s cross country recently ran in Woodbridge Invitational and have big goals for the season. They plan to go back to back for CIF and get into the top 3 for State. Watch out for runner Sapna Dholakia because she predicted to do really well this season.
Golf– Women’s golf season is in full swing and has already begun playing league matches. Players Aide Martinez and Tiffany Skates are two team members to watch out for, as they have been showing significant improvement. They recently competed and won against Brea High School, which was one of their biggest tests of the season.
Tennis– For women’s tennis, their league has just begun and so far Team Captains Paige Johnson and Rebecca Raze are showing great leadership. Their most important league game is against Brea High School and they play them on Oct 20.
Volleyball– Women’s volleyball is starting off strong, as they won the Dave Mohs Tournament in early December. The team has good chemistry and with five returners they are still playing hard. Senior Gina Lipscomb has been a stand out player thus far.
Men:
Cross Country– The men’s cross country team is working hard to improve as a team. Their goals for the season are to win the North Hills League as well as make CIF finals. Runners to watch out for are Hayden Ritchie and Noah Freeman, who have been performing very well thus far in their season.
Football– This year’s football season has just started and the excitement is building for the game against Yorba Linda High School. Aside from this game, the team’s three most important games are against El Modena High School, Brea High School and El Dorado High School. Players to watch out for are Safety Jackson Lawce and Running Back Hayden Winters.
Water Polo– This season our men’s water polo team has a very young group, but they are showing improvement and promise for the upcoming league games. Their goal is to make it to playoffs and with their strong team chemistry this is a high possibility. Players to watch out for are Team Captains Luke Rhone and Timmy Matthews, both of whom are showing great team leadership skills.
