The first annual Esperanza Book Drive will take place throughout all of the month of November. This year’s book is Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, the current school copies of which are in tatters.

“You open one of these books, and they practically fall apart,” said Mr. Steve Nordwick, who heads the book drive. “The copies were already used before they were donated to us about 40 years ago.”

The drive is looking for brand new hardback 60th anniversary edition copies of the novel. Annotated copies will not be accepted.

“And it’s ironic, you know?” said Nordwick. “Because Fahrenheit 451 is about how books will become devalued, and we’re looking for replacements for books that are falling apart.”

The annual drives will focus on whatever school curriculum book is in most desperate need. Copies of Fahrenheit must be given to your language arts teacher to be collected for the drive.
