This week is shaping up to be a good week for Esperanza and its students as well as athletes! For the first time since 2022, our Aztecs are taking on Yorba Linda High School, in a battle of the boulevard. The Aztec football team is looking to beat YL as students and teachers show off their school spirit by participating in various activities and spirit wear! As for the game itself it didn’t go exactly as we wanted for the Aztecs, but we gave it our all. Yorba Linda is 15. in the state, so you should be proud of our team for putting up to the challenge. The game started off well for Yorba Linda with a 7-0 touchdown in the 1st quarter to give them the early lead. Esperanza responded with a touchdown of our own in the 2nd quarter, which gave us hope that the game would actually be in sight of a win. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case as the Mustangs came back with multiple touchdowns throughout the rest of the game, with the final score being 35-7. Things aren’t down for the football team just yet! Next week we have a tough opponent at home vs. Marina, but if we win I think we’ll be set off for another successful season like last year!
