Track Sprints into Season
More stories from Bree Ramos
With CIF Finals just around the corner, the track team feels like they are ready to take down the competition. Though with some of the athletes down and a loss of a few players, the teams atmosphere seems to be energetic.
Sophomore, Robin Bremer, Bremer stated “Coming on varsity as a sophomore, I immediately felt the positivity. It’s very including and everyone feels like one big family. We try to include everyone in our jokes and puns.”
Every team has their ups and downs. Whether they are crushing their opponents or being creamed. But it never seems to bring this team’s spirits down. Instead of discouraging their teammates, each player does everything in their power to encourage their fellow players.
Though when they have some loses, they manage to keep the positive energy flowing. As of right now, the girls team is dominating in distance running as well as throwing. Though struggling in sprints, it doesn’t bring down their enthusiasm. As for the boys, they are doing well in their throws and distance at this moment.
Coach Medellin stated, “As a team we struggled this year, due to losing a few people both guys and girls. Even Though the team struggled this year, I feel like some individuals will make it to the CIF finals.” He then went to add “Last year we won league champions, This year, we lost one dual meet but we are young on the throw side, by next year they should have more experience.”
Even with having ups and downs in the season, a handful of students have qualified for CIF. When asked what their main goal is for the team next year Medellin commented, “We would like to have more kids out and join the team. We want to improve our records.”
