Father’s Day DIYs
More stories from Bree Ramos
Low on money, but still want to show your father how much he means to you? Below is a list of projects that prove that money doesn’t buy happiness.
The Gift of Time Together
Oneartsymama.com has some of the best DIY’s. One being “The Gift of Time Together” The materials you will need for this project will be:
A small glass jar (the 99 cent store is a good place to buy some if you don’t have any.)
Strip of burlap
Wooden letter tiles
Ribbon
Hot glue gun and glue
Paper and marker
To begin decorating the outside of the jar, you cut and wrap a strip of burlap around it and hot glue it in place with the ends overlapping just slightly. After, chose letter tiles to spell out “DAD” or even “FATHER” and glue them on the front, using the lines in the burlap as a guide to keep them straight. Lastly, tie a piece of ribbon around the top and trim the ends. This should take you about 5 minutes to do so.
Once that is done, you can begin cutting small strips of paper that were 3″ by 1″ and write an activity on each one that all of you guys enjoy doing together. Some are free, like a at home family movie night with popcorn. Others involve a little travel and money, like a treat at Starbucks, a trip to GameStop or even some an ice cream date. Whatever you choose is entirely up to you, once the strips of paper is done, you can put them in the jar and there you have it, your father’s day DIY!
Dad’s Secret Stache
Marvelousmommy.com also has some creative DIYs’ This one being called “Dad’s’ Secret Stache.” This is a very easy DIY to do, the materials you will be needing are:
A Paper Bag
Glue
Baked Treat
Scissors / Utility Knife
Card Stock
Black Vinyl or Sharpie
You begin cutting shapes out of black cardstock and a glue runner to stick them to the paper bag If you do not have a cutting machine, you can still print these shapes on white cardstock and cut them out with scissors or an utility knife. The lettering can be cut out of black vinyl, it sticks to the bag just like a sticker.
Again, if you’re not using a paper cutter, you can write on the bag with a permanent marker or you might be able to pick up some cheap alphabet sticker in the scrapbook section of your local craft store. Once that is all finished, you put in whatever kind of treats inside and there you have it, your cheap and thoughtful DIY!
