Should E-gaming be considered a sport? And do they deserve a letterman?

Should+E-gaming+be+considered+a+sport%3F+And+do+they+deserve+a+letterman%3F

As of September 2019 e-gaming became an official CIF sport. E-gaming doesn’t require any kind of hard physical activity or any physical activity really because for most of the time you are just moving your fingers a lot on a controller.“US judge concludes competitive gaming lacks a governing body and does not require athletic ability. A judge in the US has ruled that esports does not count as a sport in the context of Title IX equality legislation.” Athletes put in work day in day out. They put their bodies through pain and work hard just to become better athletes. I don’t think e-gamers can say the same. “ Everyday I wake up a little sore, but all in all, it makes playing the game worth it. Putting myself through all that I do really is worth it in the long run because it only makes me a better athlete and when you love the sport nothing else really matters.” I don’t think it is fair for e-gamers to be able to earn letterman’s. To me letterman’s should be earned by physically putting in the work how an athlete should.  “Varsity jackets trace their origins to letter sweaters, first introduced by the Harvard UNiversity baseball team in 1865.” “Esports traces its origins back to 1972, when home consoles first became common.” Esports weren’t even popular or invented when letterman jackets came to be. Since then athletes had to work hard in order to earn a letterman jacket. E-gamers in my opinion can never truly know what it feels like to put themselves through pain to be able to earn one and should never be able to get a letterman jacket.
