2017 Car Show Winner

The Car Show was met with great success as around 500 students came during lunch to see cars entered on Feb. 3.

Students had the chance to get free hotdogs, with 200 served, and were able to listen to the AMP radio live truck, something Activities Director Meghann Lukach says ‘add another fun element to the event”.

This year had 10 participants and 13 entries into the contest. The contestants were Anthony Ruelas with a Ford Mustang 1966, Collin Bennett with his Volkswagen Bug 1965, Eric Hill with a Dodge Challenger SRT 1915, Darwin Kirby with a Ford A-Coupe 1930, Hailey Souza with her Chevy C10 Truck 1963, and John Apodaca with a Kia Optima 1914. Haiden Lang another contestant, brought a Dragster Vintage 1960, a Ford Econoline 1963, and a Chevy Nova 1972, and James MacPherson came with a Lincoln Continental 1963 and a Pontiac Lemans 1966. Additionally, Math Teacher Rosalind Kanter entered a Buick Riviera 1971.

The winners of the four contests were Bennett’s Volkswagen Bug for the best off roader, Lang’s Ford Econoline for the cutest, Kibby’s Ford A-Coupe for the most classic, and the best overall being given to Souza’s Chevy C10 Truck.

The show, held for “the kids who love old vintage and classic cars”, as Lukach says, was met  with success. “I think they enjoy the car show because it is something different. It appeals to different students and also it is pretty awesome to see all the old and vintage cars”.
