German teacher creates racquetball club
Racquetball club is a new club that gives students the opportunity to be active and also try something different which was founded this year by German teacher Dennis Chandler.
The club meets Tuesdays around 3 p.m. on the racquetball courts on main campus. “I am very passionate about the sport. I love playing the game, and am pretty heavily involved in local and national tournaments. I am on the Board of Directors for the California-Nevada Racquetball Association, so I want to see the sport grow. Once you start to learn it, you get hooked on it,” Chandler states about racquetball.
Sophomores Kaitlyn Locke and Megan Kamaly are co-presidents of the Racquetball club.
Chandler has also stated, “It’s fun, It’s fast, and there are actually colleges that offer racquetball scholarships. It’s a great way to stay active. Here in California, we are very lucky to be able to play outdoors year-round. It’s also inexpensive compared to tennis.”
“I helped make this club to showcase a different kind of sport that most people haven’t heard of, and I thought that it would be fun to do something that I’ve never done before. I think that others should try it out too,” said Kamaly.
