Women’s basketball
Esperanza women’s varsity basketball team has been working hard and are getting ready for their upcoming season to start with their first official game on Tuesday, Jan. 9 against El Dorado High School.
The women’s varsity coach is James Valverde. The captains are Sam Fries and Megan Nieto out of a team of 12.
Junior Sam Fries, one of the captains for varsity explained about the upcoming season, “I’m super excited for league to start, and my main goals for the season is to go far in CIF and hopefully go to state.”
Sophomore, Katie Kobos stated, ”I am most excited for our trip to Arizona this year for the Nike tournament. There will be good competition up there in Arizona, and I know that we are also going to have fun bonding. My main goals for the season are to win in league and make it to the Semifinals in CIF.”
Fries continued to say, “My favorite thing about EHS girls’ basketball is when the team gets to travel out of state for tournaments.”
“My favorite thing about playing basketball at Esperanza is getting to a play a sport that I love with amazing teammates. We are so close both on and off the court,” stated Kubos.
