Many have put in to question if school should be year- round. This would mean no summer break and instead, longer breaks throughout the year. But, school should not be year- round because it is too much for students to handle.

With a school year that is year-round, you do not get multiple months off in a row. Since there is no long break, of multiple months, like that it can be overwhelming for some students. Some students get too stressed when a long break is not given during the summer. With a summer break, students have time to relax from all the stress that school can bring.

Even though school years that are year-round have longer breaks during the holidays and at other times, it is worse because you still get weeks of breaks for holidays and a summer break instead of just constant school.

Year-round also causes problems for teachers. Since there are many couple week breaks with a year-round school year, teachers have to plan lessons around many breaks. When there is a summer break, teachers do not have to do that as much. Also, when there are so many breaks within the school year, students tend to forget what they have learned.

Another issue that a year-round school year brings is that it is difficult for students to get a summer job because they will have no time for it. The summer is an important time for businesses to employ extra workers.

Even families can suffer from a year-round school year. Summer breaks make it easier for families to spend time together and go on vacations. Quality time with family is important to the emotional and developmental well being of a child.When there is no summer break, there is not as much time for this.
