After winning their game against Canyon, 15-5, Esperanza water polo had a good chance of making it to CIF for their 2021 season. Water Polo competed in a tournament over the 22 and 23 of October, winning 3 out of the 4 games they played. The team came in second and really came together to play as a whole. After their tournament, coach Galen Diaz explained that, “they really discovered their strengths this weekend, and I’m very happy with how this weekend turned out, get ready for playoffs!” Senior Wesley Barna stood out as an important player, scoring a majority of the goals and being a positive teammate throughout the games. Senior night was hosted on Tuesday, October 26, and Esperanza beat El Modena 7-2. This win secured their spot in the CIF playoffs and the boys are excited to compete in the next couple of weeks.
