Carson Mccormick is a Junior on Varsity Golf here at Esperanza. He has been on the team for 2 years and is very good at mentoring newer players. His team has had some ups and downs but they are overall an excellent team. Golf is a unique sport because it is very individual but you can also play as a team. Team relationships are important because no matter how good you do if you are not doing good and encouraging your team you won’t get very far. Carson is most looking forward to CIF this year because last year he was unable to qualify for it. They recently played Yorba Linda in golf and it was a very challenging match. Unfortunately, they were unable to pull through against Yorba Linda they were able to treat it as a learning experience and use it to their advantage to hopefully take the win the next time they face off. Carson does not plan to play sports in college however he does plan on playing golf while in college along with the rest of his life. He sees himself playing golf for many years to come. The reason Carson loves golf so much is because he can focus on himself and fix his own mistakes and doesn’t have to rely on a team to play well. He was previously a baseball player and that is a sport that requires a lot of teamwork and you need to play together to succeed. However in golf although right now it is a team sport because it is through high school when you normally play golf you are by yourself and it is all on you. Carson’s favorite teammate is Bradley Knoles and he said that is because he is a very skilled and experienced golfer who is also a great leader and teammate. He will help you with whatever you need and keep the team in check. Bradley was the one who introduced Carson to golf and since then they have been playing together on the golf team. After talking with Carson about the Golf team and the coaches and players involved in the program I can conclude that Gold is a great sport for anyone interested. It is a very challenging and time-consuming sport. But the environment seems very pure with how kind everyone is to one another and how much they wanna see their teammates succeed.
