Students at Esperanza High School recently created a fun and memorable experience for kindergarteners at Melrose Elementary School through a project called “Kindergarten Monsters.” In October 2025, students from Mrs. Campos’ kindergarten class drew colorful monster characters inspired by Monsters, Inc. and their Class Dojo avatars.
The drawings were sent to Mr. Kowalski’s advanced ceramics class, where high school students transformed the designs into real 3D ceramic sculptures. After months of working on the pieces, the students delivered the finished monsters to the kindergarteners in March 2026. The reactions from the younger students made the project especially meaningful. Seeing their drawings come to life as real sculptures excited the kindergarteners. Meanwhile, the high school students enjoyed expressing their creativity by making something special for themselves. The project brought students from different schools and grade levels together through art and imagination.
