Meet the First Aztec Graduate of the Year

This year at Esperanza we had our first Aztec graduate before the end of October. That´s right, you guessed it, Freddie our lovely custodian who works hard to keep our campus clean and is always looking to put a smile on our faces. He went back to college and earned his sociology degree, while balancing his profession at Esperanza in the day, school at night, and still supporting his family. Freddie´s positive attitude and dedication exemplifies our vision of pride here on campus, which makes our learning environment more secure and comfortable.

Freddie is not only a custodian but was inspired by his dad to go back to college and earn his degree. One of the main challenges he faced was managing time for his family, church, and job here, but he managed to do it all and overcome it. His kids have a big role in the college path he went down and supported and influenced one of the proudest moments for him graduating college. Some advice from Freddie if you are confused about college is “ College isn’t for everyone and that’s okay, go take a trade school, and earn a career path from there”. Other than late nights, during the day he is loved by so many people on campus and gets recognized for everything he does. His favorite part at work is bonding with students, which he believes is really important.
