The Great Debate: Is it too early to start decorating for Christmas?

With Christmas coming around the corner people are already asking themselves, “Is it to early to start decorating for Christmas?” Thanksgiving has yet to pass, and we are already seeing Christmas wreaths and lights being hung up, with the countdown to Christmas well on its way. But is it to early to start decorating for Christmas? This debate has been around for many years. The general “rule of thumb”  is to start decorating right after Thanksgiving but now a days that no longer seems to be the case. Ruby, a community neighbor, states “ I get so excited for the holidays! Getting into the holiday spirit makes me so happy and I like to start decorating right after Halloween so I can enjoy the season for as long as possible! We get to spend quality time with family and friends.” Those sentiments are not always shared by everyone.  There are some people who think that putting up decorations early is a sin. Regina a grocery store clerk, offered her opinion “I think it’s way too early for Christmas. I’m not a big fan of the music so I am not looking forward to hearing it everywhere I go.”   For me, I personally don’t think that decorating early for Christmas is a problem. If putting up decorations early makes people happy then why should we stop them?
