New Pepsi Product: Pepsi Nitro

Pepsi(PEP), a widely known company is not only expanding on the flavors of their original sodas but diving into new drinks entirely.

In 2019 PEP had announced Pepsi Nitro but due to postponements, the new drink is said to drop on March 28 this year. This new drink is aimed towards people who like the taste of Pepsi but hate the heavy carbonation. Using new technology the soda will be carbonated with nitrogen instead of the normal high-pressure CO₂. This technique not only gives the soda a lighter and smoother texture, but the soda also has a frothy, foam head.

“Much like how nitrogen has transformed the beer and coffee categories, we believe Nitro Pepsi is a huge leap forward for the cola category and will redefine cola for years to come,  said the VP of Marketing, Todd Kaplan. PepsiCo has made this drink possible by using technology similar to Guinness beer. On the bottom of the can will be a small canister, similar to the plastic ball found in a can of Guinness. In Pepsi’s released statement, the company says “Pepsi Nitro is the first-ever nitrogen-infused cola that’s actually softer than a soft drink – it’s creamy, smooth and has a frothy foam head”.

“While soda has been a beverage of choice for so many consumers over the past century, some people still cite heavy carbonation as a barrier to enjoying an ice-cold cola.  With this in mind, we wanted to come up with a new way for people to enjoy delicious Pepsi cola, but with a new experience around the bubbles,” Todd Kaplan states. This new drink comes in two flavors, Draft Cola, and Vanilla Draft Cola. Pepsi Nitro is available for pre-order via Walmart’s online shopping center, which is selling 12-packs of the product’s cans for $24.
