Jane Sommers, Photojournalist
Jane Sommers has been on The Aztlán for three years. She is a unique staff member because she always thinks outside of the box and comes up with new and creative ideas. Her favorite quote about journalism is “Journalism can never be silent: that is its greatest virtue and its greatest fault. It must speak, and speak immediately, while the echoes of wonder, the claims of triumph and the signs of horror are still in the air” (Grunwald). This quote directly reflects journalism because it shows how journalism impacts society and how it carries such a heavy role in speaking up about society and current events. Sometimes journalists get criticized, however everyone deserves an opinion and freedom of speech.
