The LGBTQ club participates in EHS Club Rush Week.

Opportunities to get involved in clubs are nearly endless,This  year alone there are 47 clubs. Here is some information about the newer clubs on campus and their purposes.

Two new clubs have been started to open discussion on issues in society. The first is LGBT Ink Club. President Nic Fiore said, “It is a safe place for discussion.” He also hopes the club will bring awareness and help end homophobia and transphobia. Another club that has discussions is SAFE Club. SAFE stands for  Student Advocates For Equality. Presidents Sammie Miller and Jane Peterson said,” SAFE club is a environment where students can discuss important social and political topics.” They also hope it will be a place where people can embrace each other’s differences.

There are also clubs that offer community service opportunities.  The first club is Literacy Advocates Club. President Ally Vuong said, ”The purpose of literacy advocates club is to promote early literacy in children.” The club goes to Fairmont Elementary School on the second Friday of every month and reads to children at the daycare center. Another club that offers community service is Interact Club. Interact Club partners with the Yorba Linda Rotary to provide community service to schools in the district. President Sydney Grippi hopes that Interact Club will raise awareness for different foundations and give students information on how to participate community service such as volunteering for CHOC events. Club Sandwich Inc. is another club that focuses on helping the community. President Brooke Sorenson said, “We are here to feed the hungry! The number of people that go hungry every day in America is unbelievable so we’re here to change that.”

Another new club on campus is Hearts for MDA. President Britany Sharp started the club to bring awareness about Muscular Dystrophy. She has been involved with the organization for two years and she said that people saw her working with the organization but never got involved. “I thought the best way to bring awareness and recruit new volunteers to this nonprofit organization was to start a club and show people exactly what we do and all the ways they can get involved.” Sharp said that the club will be holding fundraisers and awareness projects on campus. WE Club is another opportunity to get involved in volunteer opportunities. “The purpose of WE club is to promote positivity and altruism by providing opportunities for members to volunteer and donate towards our cause,” said President Magan Tran.

There are so many clubs to participate with on campus and these are just a few that offered. The year is just beginning so now is a great time to get involved!
