News had finally started to die down surrounding Ryan Lochte until protesters  stormed the stage in the middle of his first performance on the ABC show, Dancing with the Stars. This comes after months of news surrounding Lochte and his false story of an alleged robbery that took place during the summer Olympics in Rio.

While Lochte was dancing, two men stormed the stage and interrupted the dance. Security was able to stop the men and they were arrested by LAPD for trespassing. The two men were wearing t-shirts with Lochte’s name on them crossed out.

Lochte said in a quote from the Washington Post, “So many feelings are going through my head right now. A little hurt. But I came out here, I wanted to do something that I’m completely not comfortable with, and I did. And I came out with a big smile, and I had the best dance partner.”

This incident comes after backlash from when Lochte was announced as a cast member on the hit TV show. Many were upset that Lochte’s behavior was being rewarded. However, in an interview on the daytime talk show Ellen, Lochte revealed in the interview that he had agreed to be a part of the cast before the Olympics in Rio.

Lochte is currently being charged with making a false testimony due to his disproven claim. Shortly after the scandal, video footage revealed that Lochte and fellow US swimmers had vandalized a gas station and been confronted by armed security guards asking for compensation for the damage.

Although Lochte has been given the opportunity to dance on Dancing with the Stars, he has been punished for his actions in Rio. He has been suspended from US Swimming for 100 days and he has been dropped from many of his sponsors, including Speedo and Ralph Lauren.

In a live interview with Good Morning America, Lochte said, “Like I said, I did lie about that one part. I take full responsibility. I’m human. I made a mistake. A very big mistake.”
