Universal Studios’ annual Halloween Horror Nights, held from Sept. 16 to Nov. 5, yet again attracts a mass of thrill-seekers for its immersive and haunting experiences featuring seven mazes, the terror tram, and performances by the world famous dance crew Jabbawockeez.

According to parade.com, Paulette Cohn said, “A big part of the success of Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights, and what keeps the crowds coming back, is that it is a different experience than going to see a scary movie. Rather, it’s live theater, and the closest thing to visiting a haunted house that most people will ever experience.”

The seven mazes, Halloween with Mike Myers, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Freddy v. Jason, American Horror Story, The Exorcist, Krampus, and the Walking Dead attraction are scattered amongst the park, along with various scare zones which feature iconic characters and sets from the The Purge: Election Year. The lower lot of the park acquires Eli Roth’s Terror Tram, which is based solely off of the legacies of clowns such as Hollywood Harry and Koodles the Clown. In addition, performances by America’s Best Dance Crew Season 1 Winners Jabbawockeez are available for guests to visit as well.

“Mixing in a few new offerings with a host of fan favorites, Universal, with an intimate understanding of its blood-thirsty audience, has figured out what works with the movie-quality mazes. Horror Nights… shows no signs of slowing down or veering off path,” said Brady MacDonald from the LA Times.

This experience, although draining both vocally and emotionally, allows for guests with the same passion for horror films to celebrate the genre as a whole. Going with friends and fully participating will help ease the impatience throughout a potentially two hour wait in line for one of the mazes. Sure you may be hungry, tired, and anxiety-ridden, but even then, it’s one of the most memorable ways to celebrate an iconic holiday. It’s adrenaline pumping, it’s haunting, and legit for any horror genre fanatic.
