Taylor Hunter, sophomore, swings into action during a match against El Dorado High School at Yorba Linda Country Club.

We wanted to keep our readers updated on new wins in Women’s Golf.

Coach Claborn stated “The girls came in 1st in the North Hills League with a win over Brea in the League Finals Tournament. They will compete in the CIF Divisional Tournament on Oct 31.”

“Also, Carley Toigo and Taylor Hunter placed 3rd and 4th respectively in League Finals, which qualified them for CIF Individuals this past Monday in Oxnard, CA,” Said Claborn. “They did not advance after Monday’s round, but they should be commended for making it that far.”

Women’s Golf is going strong this year and as they are in the midst of their season they are playing their way to the league title.

The team began the season slightly off as they had losses in their matches against Valencia and Brea High School. But, as this year progressed, they have been playing much more consistently and have shown determination throughout all of their following matches.

As far as the team atmosphere, the girls have been showing good team chemistry and positive encouragement throughout the games. “Carley Toigo, Aide Martinez, and Taylor Hunter are leading the team and continue to improve with each week” said Coach Kevin Claborn. “Tiffany Skates and Grace Hiltbrunner-Johnson have really worked hard thus far and helped us immensely.”

After having won during their second match against Brea High School, the team continues to work its way towards clenching the title for league. They also are getting closer to competing in the Team CIF Tournament which will occur in late October.

“I am encouraged as we enter the heart of league play” said Claborn, “We have displayed good sportsmanship and continue to work hard toward our goals.” With the teams scores significantly better than the previous year, they plan to continue building on that success and ultimately make their way to CIF.
