The vocal music department performed a Romanza concert at the PAC on Thursday, Feb. 1.

Before winter break, the vocal music department had put on a winter based concert. That only gave them less than a month to prepare for the Romanza concert. Michael Fenton, vocal music director, said, “We prepared by doing daily rehearsals, outside school rehearsals, and students practiced at home.”

Vivace, vocal ensemble, and concert choir all performed their own songs, however there was a finale featured all choirs combined. The finale song was “Seasons of Love” with solos by sophomore, Gabby Neeley, senior Jake Gutierrez, junior Ally Hancock, and sophomore Kirsten Gue.

“The outcome exceeded my expectations. Everybody performed wonderfully. We had awesome soloists that performed with a lot of emotion and heart. And all of our groups performed great,” said Fenton.

The concert included many more soloists from all three groups. Freshman Whitney Gammon said, “The soloists were definitely the best part of the concert. Each soloist had a unique voice that portrayed their character and personality.”

The Romanza concert not only impressed the audience, but it was able to put the audience in a perfect mood for Valentine’s Day.
