The time is now to dive into and invest time discovering yourself and your interests. A great way to accomplish this is by going to the College and Career Fair as well as the Out of State College Fair. These both provide loads of information and assistance for any future you envision.

The College and Career Fair occurs tomorrow, Oct. 24, and is held at the Yorba Linda Community center at 6 p.m. The event can assist students of all grades for finding a future.

“Oct. 24 we have our College and Career Fair and this is for Cal States, UC and private schools,” said Abbey Eastman, college and career technician.

Not only does this fair talk about college, but it also shows different life pathways. Some things they discuss are college, universities, trade and technical schools and military schools with representatives present. Crucial topics are also discussed, such as college admissions, financial aid and SAT/ACT test preparation. This is something all grade levels can attend.

“This has a career portion for certificate programs at community colleges and is open to all high school students in our district,” said Eastman.

Another great event that was held this month was the Out of State College Fair. Not everyone is looking to stay in the area and for those individuals, this is a great opportunity to see what else is out there. This was held on Oct. 10 from 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m. and was free.

“This is for juniors and seniors, and it can expose them to colleges they’ve never heard about,” says Eastman.

This is a great way for upperclassmen to discover what majors or programs they are interested in. It helps several students each year find the right fit for schooling and discusses colleges across the states.

“Another part of this is that it’s part of the WUE program. This gives in state tuition costs to out of state schools, so California students can go out of state for in-state prices,” says Eastman.

People often believe that it is much more expensive to study out of state, but with the help of the WUE, it can eliminate some of those extra expenses at certain neighboring states. All of this is discussed at the Out of State College Fair.

Both of these events help to enlighten and enrich students’ perspectives on how they see their lives in just a few years. By attending these, it can give people an advantage in high school to be knowledgeable about the different paths available. Don’t forget to check into the college and career center if you have any inquiries about finding your future.
